Things I sometimes do instead of write my newsletter
PSA: A change to the newsletter sched and the first of many SNOA community meet ups
I imagine many people won’t make it to the bottom of this post, SO, I’m thinking of doing a Since No One Asked community coffee morning outside Jolene (but likely will end up on Newington Green!) on Sunday 5th March around 11ish. Comment on this post if you can make it! 🦞
You might have noticed that recipes-not-recipes dropped off for a couple of weeks. Sorry about that! There was little cooking being done and my procrastination tendencies got the best of me. I hope that might be somewhat relatable. Here are some things I do when I’m supposed to be writing my newsletter:
Watch Someone Great and viscerally feel the heartbreak scenes.
Roast a chicken for one person.
Sketch ideas for Kettle, a new thing I’m working on launching later this year.
Accepting that I am entirely incapable of cooking carrots.
Drink two dirty martinis and consider (but rarely make) a third.
Watch Blue Crush and shout out lines from the film like the martini-fuelled hooligan that I am.
Scroll on TikTok for two hours and send unhinged videos with the caption “I’M SCREAMING” mainly to my friend Luce.
Voice note my friend Jordanne and tell her how jelly I am that she’s in Sydney whilst I and my fringe battle London’s mid-winter wind.
Organise my photo albums on my phone and name every single person that my iPhone recognises.
Generally look nostalgically at photos and think about being tanned and youthful and untethered.
Try on outfits as if I’m not just going to wear the same thing I’ve been wearing for the past week (or double denim).
Vacuum the flat. More than once.
Stare into the abyss of my fridge hoping a snack will magically appear.
Pose with lobsters (see below)
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about changing up the newsletter schedule so I thought I’d make it clear how it’s going to be from now n:
Mondays – Food For Thought (essays on food and life)
Wednesdays – Recipes-not-recipes (unmeasured meals for you to try)
Fridays – Leftovers (picks and recs of everything I’ve been consuming)
Sundays – Since I Asked (monthly guest posts and interviews)
Expect some more chicken-and-rice situationships tomorrow for Recipes-not-recipes #29.
Cat, (long-time reader, first-time commenter) I'd love to join the coffee meet-up on Sunday 5th!
Wish I was there to join!! Oh and I can’t cook carrots either / don’t love cooked carrots
