Last night I went to see Maggie Rogers play Ally Pally. I knew all the words and sang terribly along with 10,000 other people, and spent the car ride home blasting Sugababes with my friend Jordanne. The view from Ally Pally is special – buildings twinkling and winking at you from atop the hill. It’s one of the only viewpoints in London where you can really take it in in one go, without having to turn your head. No need for panoramic movement. It’s all just there. Before all this, we ate this crispy mushroom rice bowl at mine and complained about our jobs. I’m probably about 2/3 rice bowl – I make it so often I could do it with my eyes closed. I’d picked up some oyster mushrooms the other day and knew there was something that could be done with panko breadcrumbs and a heavy pour of oil. I was right.
