I’d spent much of August complaining about the heat. Dreaming of cold, dark nights. The rain tapping against the windows. It arrived quicker than anticipated and although I welcomed it, instinctively my body is finding the adjustment a little challenging. I always wonder if the weather mirroring my mood is a powerful act played by the universe or simply something I do in anticipation. An excuse to be happy or sad. Sure enough, as the clouds rolled in and the afternoon brought steady showers, my body matched and morphed.
With tired eyes, tired mind, tired soul I retreated to the pub for one pint of Guinness then made my way home via Tesco, wondering what I could cook up for dinner. Pasta was on my mind but then: a grilled cheese dipped in thick soup that I didn’t have to make myself. I’d been sent some vegan cheese from Julienne Bruno which I thought I’d try (alongside real cheese, because it just hits different). With this one I think I nailed the ratio and achieved the holy grail of crunchy bread and gooey cheese. Sometimes the supermarket soup and sammie is all you need (and a really hot shower).
