For the past month, I’ve been working with Gemma Bell & Company – heroes of the hospitality industry and purveyors of the best PR restaurants can dream to have – on a big editorial piece that looks at dining culture in 2023 and what we’re looking towards in 2024. I was commissioned by Pani Soutis, who has been my partner in words, food and edits to create this amazing piece which looks critically at how eating and drinking out has been impacted by our social, political and economic climate. I’m super proud to share it with you (and hope some editors see this and commission me to write more food essays). It’s also a pretty comprehensive list of good places to eat and drink, with fantastic quotes from some of my favourite critics and chefs.
