Thinking – 

- Inevitably about the political landscape that’s been invading our news cycle and social media feeds. A friend of mine who studied the conflict for four years at university sent me this n+1 piece, titled “Have We Learned Nothing?”, which I thought was really insightful.

- How affordable Papo’s Bagels are (£4 for one laden with scallion cream cheese and topped with a perfectly ripe heirloom tomato) and that bagels have become the new sandwich, so what’s next?

- The absolute accuracy of this scene in The Hills being our real Roman Empire. Oh the life lessons we learned (never be the girl who didn’t go to Paris).

- The new series of The Morning Show, which broadly tackles post-Covid life, big tech’s influence over the media, the storming of the Capitol and the real cost of power. Also the ick of Jon Hamm emerging from the sea in a wetsuit.

- Basking in the the lyrical beauty (a riot of sunlight) in one of my favourite poems by Derek Mahon (particularly poignant when it’s read aloud by Andrew Scott or Paul Mescal):
