I’ve become partial to a solo cinema date at the local Curzon, which isn’t cheap but a little luxury that I’ve come to enjoy: a brisk walk, a glass of red, a couple of hours without looking at my phone and a completely diverted attention, away from work matters or social engagement. It’s also a way to peel myself away from the living room, an all too attractive space to find yourself in when the light fades at 4pm. The benefits of leaving the house have been unfolding; mainly that returning in the dark just past dinnertime feels like a relief, a welcome place to cook a quick dinner (recently roasted butter beans, a dollop of Lina Stores pesto, a tangle of dressed bitter leaves. For now, here are some cinematic recommendations:
