I swore I wouldn’t start this newsletter with a comment about the weather, mainly because I’m not in London or experiencing the relief of rain (not complaining about the blue skies and blistering sunshine in Puglia, of course). But I’ve seen some dark and ominous clouds here and whilst they tower over, they always end up bypassing us. I’m not sure if it’s luck or not, because like the weather tends to, it feels like it mirroring my mood – and I’d quite like this internal storm to erupt and bring some emotional relief. And just as I write, the rain comes. Funny how things work out like that. Anyway, here are some recommendations from a week of spaciousness and now, hopefully, relief.
Look I’m not going to gloss over the fact that I spent two nights in the magical Castle Elvira (full transparency: I’m doing some writing for them and didn’t pay for my accommodation). It’s a Puglian dream. Sunset drinks on the roof. A turret lookout spot. Three pools. Acres of woodland. The biggest bed I’ve ever slept in. Aircon! Service by WhatsApp. Kittens who sit by your feet at dinner. I felt like a Disney princess.
