I’ve had one night in over the past 10 days which means I’m in a perpetual wine-fuelled haze but that’s spring, baby. Lots of good food, good friends, pub pints and tiny tumblers of martini (shout out The Clarence). It is when London returns to her truest self: longer, lighter days spent walking the canal, gathering on pavements with plastic pint glasses in hand, the Ladies Pond an option again. The air and seasons and atmosphere is moving and so must I, although tell that to 6.30am me who cancelled her workout class in favour of two more hours in bed. Quel Taurus.

Dessert wine flex

I never think to order one after a meal but I might start making it a habit. This was enjoyed after a particularly boozy dinner at Calong (more on that below) and I was obsessed with this one. It had a orange-tinged, vermouth taste to it – served on ice with a slice of orange – but with a little curl of sweetness. Tasted like summer by the coast. Upon further research I discovered it’s actually a white ‘chinato’ with the dominant ingredient being the bark from quinine trees (quinine is the bitter taste you get in tonic water).
