Leftovers #140
I am a woman possessed. By what? The allure of outlaw cowboys, of Montana mountain scenes, of log cabins crackling with open fires, of sprawling ranches and white barns, of the Y brand, of whinnying dappled colts. In short I’ve been watching Yellowstone. I can’t stop. I’ve purchased three items directly influenced by both Beth and John Dutton, have worn my Frye boots more in the past week than I have since I bought them, and have been furiously googling ‘horse stables west Cornwall’. Don’t get me started on my TikTok searches (RipTok, IYKYK).
Other than that, it’s been a week of cooking for friends, sending the last few Kettle Objects orders out (there’s still a few sets left!), frequenting my favourite local bakery (Quince on New North Road) and gathering my tax documents after being chased by accountants since… November?
On The Hob
After three weeks of no plans in January, all social plans stacked on top of one another. Lots of making dinners for friends, which meant my usual repertoire of signature dishes needed some diversifying…
Did the usual weekend ritual: roasted a chicken on a Saturday and made stock on a Sunday, which meant I could use some of that stock for dinner on Tuesday and poach a chicken in the rest of the stock on Wednesday. This is how I like to cook.
