Apologies for the radio silence – I’ve been helping my best friend move from Vancouver to Calgary with an almost two-year-old in tow. We arrived in Alberta yesterday and I can see the Rockies from where I’m writing which I’m enjoying immensely. Packing and unpacking an entire house in less than a week is wild and I’m somewhat scared about doing this when I leave London early next year… So little cooking, instead rosemary oil infused tater tots and smash burgers, Domino’s pizza nostalgia, a brown rice bowl because I needed some health, breakfast burritos and lots of decaf americanos poured into the smallest cups (the North Americans are v baffled by this order).
Eat here in London
– My dear friend Mehlaqa is hosting a Syria x Pakistan supper club on November 16th in London. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday and usually sell out in MINUTES. Can confirm the menu will be delicious. Keep an eye on Mehlaqa’s Instagram to get your hands on tickets. See you there?
– My other wonderful friend Sal is hosting a Chit Chaat supper club at E5 Bakery on November 9th. I won’t be able to make it (cry) but Sal is AMAZING, her condiments are fire and she’s a pro at bringing people together over good food. She’s also wicked funny so that’s a bonus. It’s sold out but you can join the waitlist here!
– I’m looking forward to dining at Hugh Corcoran’s newly opened restaurant, The Yellow Bittern (King’s Cross), when I come back. I love Hugh’s food writing and I want to eat his heart-warming dishes that tastes like a piece of Ireland. Go go go.

Sorry for your loss, whatever that means
There are a few things I’ve read or watched where I think, wow I wish I wrote that. Sorry For Your Loss is one of those. I feel like it went under the radar (mainly because it was launched on Facebook Watch, the social media platform’s attempt at competing with Netflix and Prime Video) but it’s such a fantastic show about grief, loss and mental health. Elizabeth Olsen plays widow Leigh, who is reeling in the aftermath of her husband dying. The show follows her navigating life after death, discovering more about her late husband and battling everything reluctantly alongside his brother, who she’s always resented a little. I love how the show deals with frustration around attempts at empathy, the banality of living after losing someone and the family dynamics around it all. FYI it’s free to watch and there are no ads! It’s from 2018 and this is the third or fourth time I’m rewatching it – it gets better each time.
Majestic Casual resurgence
I remember listening to Maj Cas on repeat when I was 22 years old with my friend Naomi. We’d drink gin in her Bow bedroom before a night out and sing along to AlunaGeorge / whatever Australian alt-electronica band was in favour at the time. For some reason I can’t find this specific album that I seem to own on Apple Music but this playlist hits most of the feels for me.
Love majestic casual! Was ultimate revision music and now put it on for work, Spotify playlist hits! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6wjCvkAFovrVIRM8VfZLZG?si=fAiCpxhqQyO-bpb0UtRoQQ&pi=e-7Boh2YxLQO6D
