Not me eating peri-peri rotisserie chicken straight from the container, leant over the counter promising each bite is the last bite. Sweaty from a workout class in 40º infrared heat, one box of sushi already down, contemplating my first date the night before. For anyone wondering how that first date went: nice enough, swore a lot, 41 yo Toronto hockey brah, slight Schmidt energy but not in a cute way, and unmatched me when I sent him a v nice message saying it was lovely to meet but I didn’t feel a spark! I write to you from a dreamy tree-lined street where I’ve just consumed a matcha laced with dark blueberry syrup. I’m writing about beans and thinking about how this is my literal job – very lucky, very full, very grateful. Tonight the rotisserie chicken that I haven’t eaten will be tossed in a warm salad of roasted delica squash, feta, avocado, cavalo nero and whatever salad leaves are left from the farmer’s market. My fall version of my fail-safe lime miso vinaigrette is in this newsletter!


Vancouver palate, mainly potatoes + cheese

Not usually a pizza girl. I get bored with just one thing on my plate. But sometimes it hits and the other night Ky and I went home and ordered one pizza and one market salad with a parmesan-laced mayo dip and it was truly perfect. New order unlocked: margarita but add roasted garlic, hot honey and extra parm. This Italian American vibe was continued at one of my favourite dinner spots in Van: Pepinos. Where the portions are huge and the martinis are dirty.
