A centennial Leftovers newsletter this week coming to you live from Marseille, where the temperature is above 18º, the sun is warm and the fish is fresh. Mum and I walked to the fish market (conveniently located three minutes from our apartment) this morning and picked up two monk fish and some octopus to cook later, because we are definitely the kind of family that like to have a night in on holiday, especially when the markets are so plentiful. We’re thinking octopus salad, monk fish drowned in butter, and lemony potatoes boiled then finished in the oven. Apropos ‘monk’, we are watching a Netflix show of the same name, which is slightly ridiculous but has become a nice little ritual before we go to bed. Family time, even as a 32 year old, is very cute! (Until my mother asks me why I’m not dating anyone). Again, thank you for subscribing to my newsletter and happy 100th edition to Leftovers, because recommendations are my love language!
Something springy to snack on.
Baguettes, French butter, radishes, comte and jammy eggs. Rocket dressed with lemon juice and olive oil. Goes well with an Arnold Palmer (iced tea + lemonade) or a glass of cold white wine (preferably Sancerre).
Also, carrotes râpées, which I think will be my side of the spring.
