I have a bad habit of wanting to eat bread as soon as it’s brought into the house. I had a craving for cold tomatoes on warm sourdough, which I turned into a BLT without the B this morning. But about 30 minutes ago, knowing I’d be drinking a few pints without dinner tonight, I returned to the chopping board with another plain old Sammie on my mind. Instead of toasting the bread I oiled up the cast iron; that’s when I remembered the freezer cheese. Admittedly it’s a strange concept but when I buy one of those supermarket packets of sliced cheese, I chuck half of it in the freezer. The best thing about sliced cheese is that it’s easy to separate when it comes out. Luckily there were two slices left, so I give you: a miso butter, shiso leaf and tomato grilled cheese. A perfect pre-pub dinner (are you sensing a theme?).
