Beans That Almost Cure Jet Lag 🫘
The last few days have been a blur, mainly because my body is 9 hours ahead and my mind is three weeks behind and also because I went a little too hard on the martinis at Equal Parts (and then Bambi – which I would highly recommend just don’t do what I did and fall off your chair). The first thing I did on Friday when I returned to London was hazily walk through my local grocery store with awareness of a thumb, completely clueless as to what to buy. The usual suspects ended up in my basket (cavalo nero, spring onions, grapefruit, garlic, oyster mushrooms) as well as a packet of pinto beans that felt like the only thing to cook that afternoon, considering the weather and my inability to stay awake. I usually make my beans with slightly less water so I can chuck them into salads, but I wanted the soup to soothe my tired soul – so here’s a recipe-not-recipe for the pot of beans I made but didn’t eat until 4am the next morning because I fell asleep on the sofa.
